Do you believe in ghosts? In some kind of hocus-pocus bogus that's not even really there? Or in a presence you can't make out, but still feel so intensely that your neck hair stands on end and starts trembling as if electroshocked? The nighttime is the realm of these latter ghosts and spirits, so they say. They love darkness and shadows. They love the spaces in between. They love the ambiguity of silence. These ghosts are the ones we're after (or are they after us?), the ones we want to believe in.

TOLOUSE LOW TRAX acts like a spirit escaped from the mist and steam of a jungle in pale moonlight. His music is primitive yet mysterious, sinister yet full of glowing intensity. It inhabits the twilight corners of sound and makes you realise that it's first and foremost the shadow cast by a beat that really gets a groove going. This is music that lets silence speak.

TOLOUSE LOW TRAX is the co-founder and artistic director of Düsseldorf's Salon des Amateurs, a home for music and art that has been dubbed the “post-kraut Haçienda”, as well as the co-founder and a long-time member of the future-kraut band Kreidler. His namesake Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec once said, my trees look like spinach and my sea like heaven knows what. The Post-Impressionist painter and famous bohemian was clearly following the lead of writer Victor Hugo when he referred to his non-ability to excel in landscapes. Form is essence brought to the surface, the writer had stated a few decades earlier. TOLOUSE LOW TRAX cherishes them both. Make sure to be present when he'll bring to the surface the essence of any ghostly groove as he plays a special three hour dj set at KOOKOO!

Who believes in ghosts? In hanky-panky creepy jamboree? Or in visual entities that speak to you even though they know no words? Fine artist and musician EVA TEPPE does, and so do KOOKOO's resident artists YUKIHIRO TAGUCHI and CARLY FISCHER. The three of them set out to transform the nighttime at OHM Gallery into a realm of phantoms and spectres. Joining the séance are, of course, your hosts MIEKO SUZUKI and ARA.

There's things to be done and things to be said that should have been said long ago. And every silence lets in the same doubt...

But don't you worry. If in doubt, just go KOOKOO!
