An emitter produces a bass wave deep in the ocean. It propagates over monstrous distances, through dark, viscous expanses. Kilometres away, minutes later, a receiver registers the wave’s impact. From the time it takes between emission and reception, the temperature in the depths of the ocean is inferred. Every 4 m/s increase in velocity corresponds to a 1 degree rise in temperature.

As our planet warms, the wave velocity rises.

Volte-Face has emerged as a key figure in London's adventurous electronic music scene, initially promoting some of the capital's most vital nights under his BleeD banner, and more recently as a producer, and running the label of the same name.

Identifying as a DJ first and foremost, he takes a patient and measured approach in the booth, allying diverse and imaginative influences to a deep and heady techno pulse. He has remixed or been remixed by DJ Spider, DJ Nobu, Svreca, Peder Mannerfelt, Iori and Phil Moffa and, aside from his solo BleeD releases and as one half of Rote (with Daniel Avery) has also made a recent appearance on Semantica’s esteemed Nonnative series.

Sri-Lankan born, Sweden raised, the enigmatic Kalawila has an affinity for the uncertain, drawing inspiration from unconventional experiences and remote travels. Through his time in Berlin, he realised techno was a modern way of describing a fundamental feeling dating back to ancient times. He explores this feeling within his DJ sets and productions on the likes of Bossmusik and his own label Mountain Explosion Device, examining textures and the void-like space between spaces.
