Form Follows Funktion is a principle associated with modernist architecture and industrial design in the 20th century. The principle is that the shape of a building or object should be primarily based upon its intended function or purpose. This series of events will feature international artists of two major movements: contemporary arts & advanced music.

For the first issue we invited Darrell Weisner who previously took part in exhibitions at Fhainerraum and Sisyphos. Upcoming exhibitions at Klagenfurt, Austria as well as Gallerie Gerken, Berlin. He will exclusively produce a massive sculpture and possibly other exhibits which will be shown at the club during the night. Henry Wu got a featured debut for his „Just Negotiate“ at the Boiler Room will open the the night with his diversity on records by speeding up and down from Jazz to Funk. Right after San Proper will serve a live session with his drummer by chanting and jamming on his guitar. To finish the surrounding we’ve also invited our super-soul Hunee.

DARREL WEISNER
Darrell Weisner is a student of fine arts at the University of the Arts (UDK), Berlin. Working with acquired media (both new and found), the nucleus of his work lies in the symbiosis of materials with geology as well as the questions provoked from this melding. Do objects hold identity? Is the human mind capable of disassociating the practical use of an object when it’s placed in the realm of the conceptual? Does the object’s history play a role in its value or its inherent worth? Has the paradigm of the natural world shifted in order to accommodate what was once considered synthetic? How much of this is now an inescapable element of nature? Weisner uses everyday items in unconventional ways to bring the contextual focus away from purpose and origins. His method of transformation attempts to expose the concealed dimensions within the ordinary, thus creating an unfamiliar narrative.

SAN PROPER
San Proper is a well-respected artist from the Amsterdam underground club scene. Over the last fifteen years, he has been spinning and playing live from major clubs and festivals to smaller bars and dodgy underground locations. He’s known and praised for his House & Disco sets, but also skilled in blending different styles from Acid to Afro-beat into an eclectic mix. Since 2009 he has been performing & presenting a solo live show chanting vocals and playing several live instruments alongside his hard-ware and digital gear.

HUNEE
Hunee pretty much operates on his own terms, in his own world. Since a first release in 2009 he has been in no rush to make it big, but instead has slowly seeped out into the world his choice cuts of rhythmically playful and super-soul infused house music on labels like Rush Hour, Future Times and W.T. As a DJ, too, he is tireless and visibly enthusiastic at every gig. His selections are made with a palpable passion and cover a cultured cross section of essentials from house and disco to afro and techno. The music he serves up comes from a place of love and knowledge in equal measure - there are no cheap thrills with Hunee, just pure musical joy.

HENRY WU
South Londoner Henry Wu has been rightly labelled as one of the most exciting emerging producers this year. Henry’s diversity on record is also apparent in his DJ sets, where he deftly speeds up and down to deliver his sound knowledge of funk and jazz, to more contemporary house stylings. Already scheduled to perform across the UK and Europe in clubs and festivals, Henry is clearly taking big strides.
