Applied Arts is a new club night presented by Cashmere Radio in collaboration with ACUD MACHT NEU. Applied Arts focuses on the craftsmanship of djs and record selectors by presenting extended sets of genre-bending dance music. Rooted in black music and spanning from disco and funk to US house, from fusion jazz to detroit techno and back, A.A. advocates both the percussive as well as the spiritual sounds, aiming to reunite dance floors with moments of emotional euphoria and transcendental bliss.

A.A. is presented by and streamed live on Cashmere Radio and features, aside from Cashmere founder and resident DJ Vigera and Radio associated acts, one guest per night, who will be encouraged to dig deeper into her/his record bag, provided absolute freedom to conjure a genre crossing set.

For the first edition of Applied Arts we are very pleased to welcome the italian duo Nu Guinea for an extended dj set.

NU GUINEA [Early Sounds Recordings, IT/DE]
VIGERA [Cashmere Radio, DE]

The Naples formed, Berlin-based duo NU GUINEA creates sounds influenced by the idea of an exotic, far distanced place. Combining disco and house with funk stabs, boogie rhythms and a world-ethno music sensibility, they create a highly danceable yet abstract sound that is not aiming for perfection but genuineness. After releasing their debut on Early Sounds Recordings in October 2014 and their brilliant "World" EP on Tartelet Records in 2015, the duo has now released its first LP. "The Tony Allen Experiments" combines distinctive lo-fi funk synthesizers melting into the original drumming of the Afrobeat legend Tony Allen for an explosive collaboration.

On the late night slot is VIGERA, one of the Cashmere Radio founders and one of its most active hosts. Specialised in US deep house, his sets are rhythmically rigid yet widely organic.

On opening duties is SAMUELE PALETTI,1/2 of S&W as well as a member of the radio & party collective Prongof 108. Extensive digger and record junkie, his collection is informed by plenty of disco gems, from Brazil to Italy and the US.
