Der Belgier Robin De Wulf alias Phara verbindet ein scharfes Gespür für die Geschichte des Techno mit einem kompromisslos modernen Ansatz. Geprägt von Detroit-, Berlin- und UK-Techno sowie Einflüssen aus Post-Punk, Wave, EBM und Electro produziert er energetische, eigenwillige Tracks voller Groove und Spannung. Diese veröffentlichte er in den vergangenen Jahren überwiegend auf seinem eigenen Imprint Phaaar und dem Label des Brüsseler Fuse Clubs, in dem er auch als Resident-DJ tätig ist. 2022 brachte er sein erstes Live-Set auf die Bühne – eine rohe, konzentrierte Performance mit der Korg EMX-1. Phara spielt heute Nacht live im Berghain. Kaum eine Band hat die Spannung zwischen Maschine und Körper so präzise ausgelotet wie Factory Floor. Ende der 00er aus dem Warehouse-Underground Londons hervorgegangen, entwickelte das Trio einen Sound, der die Grenzen zwischen Post-Punk und hypnotischem Techno zum Einsturz brachte. Ihre frühen Veröffentlichungen auf DFA und das selbstbetitelte Debütalbum waren purer Stahl und Schweiß: metallische Percussions, schneidende Synths und auf mantraartige Fragmente reduzierte Vocals. Nach 25, 25 (2016) und einer langen Phase der Stille meldet sich Factory Floor nun mit neuen Singles auf Erol Alkans Label Phantasy Sound zurück. Live bleibt die Band ein körperliches Erlebnis, das sich an diesem Sonntagabend in der Säule nachspüren lässt.
Belgian producer Robin De Wulf aka Phara combines a keen sense of techno history with an uncompromisingly modern approach. Influenced by Detroit, Berlin and UK techno as well as post-punk, wave, EBM and electro, he crafts energetic, idiosyncratic tracks full of groove and tension. In recent years, he has released most of these on his own imprint, Phaar, and on the label of Brussels' Fuse Club, where he is also a resident DJ. In 2022, he brought his first live set to the stage – a raw, concentrated performance with the Korg EMX-1. Phara is playing live at Berghain tonight. Hardly any other band has explored the tension between machine and body as precisely as Factory Floor. Having emerged from London's warehouse underground scene in the late 00s, the act developed a sound that broke down the boundaries between post-punk and hypnotic techno. Their early releases on DFA and their self-titled debut album were pure steel and sweat: metallic percussion, cutting synths and vocals reduced to mantra-like fragments. After 25, 25 (2016) and a long period of silence, Factory Floor is now back with new singles on Erol Alkan's label Phantasy Sound.
