Lakuti & Tama Sumo:

We are elated to return and we bring good tidings in the form of two special DJs and a performance by one of our favourites.

Often referred to as a DJ’s DJ, Mark Seven began his obsession with the dance at now vaunted London parties such as Delirium, to a soundtrack of soul, funk and hiphop. As acid house took root in Stockholm – where he’s based since the late 1990s –, Mark became a regular at the similarly hallowed Future and Shoom and started organising his own events. His passion for discovery led him to journey to USA and Europe to source vinyl, and has resulted in his own online store, JusWax. In Stockholm Mark set up the Black Lodge all-nighters, mixtapes from which helped to alert the outside world to his knowledge and ability.

Producing since 1991 and running labels since 1992, Mark’s current label Parkway is inspired by the sounds he first fell in love with: the explosion of creativity that occurred post-disco, when electronics became more affordable and the music moved back underground. Names like Paul Simpson, Winston Jones and Boyd Jarvis, Emergency, Streetwise and Easy Street. Records with Herb ‘The Pump’ Powers etched i and segues of exclusive edits / remixes of unknown-to-all-but-a-few Black music releases of the 1980s. Unsung tracks that fed into a sound that became house.

Marcia Carr is a seasoned club DJ and radio presenter. She's the producer of Everything Good on Rinse FM, the curator and director of the all-vinyl, female DJ squad Girlz B Like, producer of video series 2 Decks And A Mixer and occasionally makes tunes. Known well among her industry peers, Marcia Carr is an international vinyl aficionado; she is the DJ’s DJ with more than 36 years of loyal passion behind her. She's played many of London's hotspots, she has been featured around the world on bills alongside many big names of the scene.

Her club DJ sets of deeper, soulful, jazzy style encompassing afro, gospel house, disco, broken beat, nu jazz and dubstep have also featured on air of a variety of stations across the globe. She has played amongst some of the world celebrated DJ’s DJs such as Kerri Chandler, Norman Jay MBE, Larry Heard, Joey Negro, Dego (2000Black), Phil Asher (rip), Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson (rip), Bugz In The Attic, Marc Mac (4Hero), Rahaan Rah, Frankie Valentine, Jeremy Newall, Johnny Reckless & many more.

Kalypso is a drag queen who takes a fierce look both in and out of drag, presenting alternative looks one night, cabaret the next and something entirely otherworldly the next. She throws in loud fashion statements, glitter and a lot of provocation and gives the audience basically everything one might want from drag. Her Grace Jones performance left some of you speechless on a couple of ocassions. Whatever it is they will be giving us this time, we are all here to eat it up.

As per usual your hosts Lakuti and Tama Sumo will be rounding off the night with strong and life-affirming songs.

‘Your Love’ celebrates music’s rich tapestry and affords revellers a moment to truly be at one with the music and those around them. A communal ritual to guide us out of the Apocalypse into the future we all deserve.
