Außerdem an den Decks: eure Hosts Tama Sumo and Lakuti.

Thanks to those that showed up for Finest Friday in March and made our night with Marcellus Pittman, Carista and Kalypso Bang a night to remember. We are super excited for this June edition – bringing two of our faves, repping a new and younger generation of Detroit artists: Kyle Hall and Jay Daniel.

It’s been a long way coming but we are super happy to finally be able to host Kyle Hall. Omar-S, Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite, Mike Huckaby and other Detroit luminaries call him one of the most talented youngsters around. Kyle has been DJing and recording music since he was prepubescent, and was mentored by some of the most notable names in contemporary Detroit house and techno. His first lessons came from DJ Raybone Jones, respected locally as a DJ and a DJ’s barber. Then he met Rick Wilhite, one-third of 3 Chairs (with Theo Parrish and Kenny Dixon, Jr., Marcellus Pittman) and owner of Vibes New and Rare Music until it closed some years back. He learned the program Reaktor from Mike Huckaby. At age 16 he met Omar S. In 2007, Kyle released his first official record, a single-sided EP on FXHE called ‘Plastik-Ambash’. By 2010 he was a household name amongst clubbers the world over and he was touring and travelling the world. He has since gone on to release a couple of excellent albums and EPs on his very own Wild Oats label. A great catalogue of EPs also on Third Ear, Hyperdub, Moods & Grooves, and has released music as FunkinEvil alongside, Funkineven.

We are happy to have Jay Daniel come join us after we hosted him back in 2016. Jay Daniel is one of the brightest emerging stars in the latest generation of Detroit electronic music artists. He is also a part of the legacy of the motor city sound with a mother, namely Naomi Daniel, who is the voice behind Planet-E classics “Stars” and “Feel The Fire”, both of which were produced by Carl Craig and released in the early 90s. Having released some choice EPs on labels such as Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature and Funkieven’s Apron Records, Jay has now gone on to release an album on Technicolor and the most recent album ‘Tala’ on his very own label Watusi High. Jay Daniel has gone on to remix Four Tet, Wajeed and recently Peggy Gou.

As per usual Tama Sumo and Lakuti will be there to add some extra sauce by way of djaying and hosting you. We hope you can make it.
