Returning to OHM in 2016, The Botox Series celebrates its 10th night with a cross-section of Berlin’s freshest and a special guest from across the pond. Joining resident Namke Folo on January 22nd are Don Williams, Bake and Rifts in what is shaping up to be one of the strongest lineups of the series.
A mainstay of the city since the late 90s, Mujuba and a.r.t.less label-head Don Williams is famed for his rave-heavy, big-room sets at Berghain and an ability to flow seamlessly through genre, era and mood. While the sound of Detroit may be firmly engrained within his sets, this rare intimate appearance at OHM is sure to make a number of stops as it makes its way there.
The curve ball of the night is sure to come from Bake: one third of Glasgow’s All Caps crew, an acclaimed selector in his own right, and the man behind one of Rinse FM’s most velvety voices. Bake joins Botox #10 to captivate the room with a set that’s sure to be hard to pigeonhole. Expect bass, grooves and the unexpected.
With only a couple of decades under his belt, Rifts is leading a steady charge for the next generation of Berlin techno. In just a few months the WERK nights at About:Blank have become a talking point of the town and Rifts relentless mixes has been plastered across the WWW. With a penchant for delving into sets that echo a time before his, Rifts and his WERK crew aim to do just as their motif states: restoring techno to its most powerful form.
