The tumult is turmoil, the noisy confusion of excited people, as is the case at dance events. In some cases, such a tumult is also accompanied with a fresh start, a new chapter, as happened around about the time when the Berlin Wall came down. PAUL BIRKEN curated such a rebirth last year with the release of the double 12” sequel to the 20 year old, but no less fresh sounding, Surfing’ Superior.
Otherwise, you can check out a remix of ‘Lag’ on ‘Them’ or take a look at the third catalog number of the label The Cast Project, if you’d like to get a taste of Birken's current work.
It’s also worth having a gander through the back catalogue of JOHN HECKLE, the second live act of the evening, and mastermind behind the Head Front Panel label, to get an impression of his musical incursions. What comes out is extremely groovy and sometimes proper banging. CHARLTON shows just how raw he can be on his self-titled record on TH Tar Hallow, released earlier this year. Ecstasy rearing it’s head, cheeky grin and all, is therefore inevitable. SASA STRAUSS and VICTOR complement the line-up, the latter's Ghetto House records will most likely be exchanged for crisp techno. Couldn’t be much more rounded than that!

Der Tumult steht für Aufruhr, das lärmende Durcheinander erregter Menschen, wie dies etwa auf Tanzveranstaltungen der Fall ist. In manchen Fällen geht ein solcher Tumult auch mit einem Neuanfang, einem neuen Abschnitt einher, so geschehen etwa beim Fall der Mauer. Einen musikalischen Neuanfang kuratierte vergangenes Jahr Paul Birken, in dem er seine inzwischen 20 Jahre alte, jedoch nicht minder frisch klingende doppel 12'' Surfin' Superior um eine Fortsetzung erweiterte. Ansonsten kann man derzeit noch einem Remix für Lag auf Them lauschen oder mal einen Blick auf die dritte Katalognummer des Labels The Cast Project werfen, wenn man denn einen Eindruck von Birkens aktuellem Schaffen bekommen möchte. John Heckle, der zweite Liveact des Abends, sowie Mastermind hinter dem Head Front Panel Label streift sich selbiges auch gern für seine musikalischen Streifzüge über. Was dabei herauskommt ist ungemein groovy und kann auch mal richtig knallen. Wie roh Charlton werden kann, zeigt er auf seiner selbstbetitelten Platte auf TH Tar Hallow, die Anfang des Jahres erschienen ist. Extase die Zähne zeigt ist also vorprogrammiert. Sasa Strauss und Victor komplementieren das Line-up wobei letzterer seine Ghetto-House Scheiben höchstwahrscheinlich ausnahmsweise mal gegen knackigen Techno eintauschen wird. Viel runder kann das gar nicht werden!
