Celebrating the release of the 52nd installment of !K7 Records’ legendary DJ Kicks series, AWAY and !K7 Records presents one of Detroit’s most iconic and charismatic DJs Kenny Dixon Jr., aka Moodymann. For his first ever multi-artists mix compilation, Dixon’s put together 30 tracks (including 11 exclusive Moodymann edits) providing an idiosyncratic fusion of blues, soul, hip-hop, house and techno that reflects the versatile influences and sounds you can also anticipate tonight during his next one of a kind DJ sets. As the indisputable ambassador of Detroit’s music scene, Moodymann evolved his unique style with dark and sample-drenched productions on his KDJ label to his more R’n’B-driven outings on Mahogani Music imprint. Moodymann’s DJ Kicks mix proves once again why the outspoken man–on–the–mic is respected as one of the most enigmatic and most successful house producers since the early nineties. For this special release party, the living legend is flanked by hip-hop and house royalty Andrés as well as Flo Real and Quarion. Next to AWAY’s resident Move D and AWAY Soundsystem, there are also two charming and talented ladies one the bill: The South Korea-born and Berlin-based Peggy Gou (Rekids) as well as DJ and label owner Daniela La Luz, whose contribution „Did You Ever“ is closing Moodymann’s DJ Kicks compilation.
