Mit der Kampagne "Justice for Rita!" fordern geflüchtete Frauen derzeit die Aufklärung des Mordes an Rita Awour Ojunge. Als Rita im April 2019 aus der Geflüchtetenunterkunft Hohenleipisch verschwand, dauerte es zwei Monate, bis die Polizei eine Suchaktion startete – und ihre Leiche 300 Meter von der Unterkunft entfernt fand. Die Aktivist*innen, die nun Gerechtigkeit für Rita fordern, klagen die Zustände in den Lagern und die besonderen Gefahren für Frauen* an.
Auch andere Aktivist*innen aus Brandenburg kritisieren diese rassistischen Zustände: "Gewalt erfahren wir jeden Tag. Es gehören nicht nur Schläge dazu. Auch die ständigen Schikanen der Behörden sind ein Teil davon. Zum Beispiel, dass wir für unser monatliches Geld oder für einen Krankenschein den ganzen Tag unterwegs sind."
Isolierte, gefängnisähnliche Lager, Schikane und Behördenwillkür, rassistische Kontrollen und Polizeigewalt – all das gehört ebenso zum deutschen und europäischen Grenzregime wie Abschiebungen und das Sterben im Mittelmeer. Geflüchtete Aktivist*innen kämpfen dagegen. Sie kämpfen nicht nur für das Recht auf Bewegungsfreiheit, sondern auch für das Recht, anzukommen und sich ein selbstbestimmtes Leben aufzubauen. Ihr Kampf betrifft alle, die für eine solidarische Gesellschaft ohne Rassismus einstehen.
Mit der diesjährigen about:united unterstützen wir unter anderem die Kampagne „Justice for Rita!“ und die Gruppe Corasol. Alle unterstützten Projekte setzen sich in unterschiedlicher Weise für die Vernetzung und Selbstorganisation Geflüchteter in Brandenburg und Berlin ein, sowie gegen Lager, Isolation und institutionellen Rassismus.

With the campaign "Justice for Rita!", refugee women are currently demanding that the murder of Rita Awour Ojunge is properly investigated. When Rita disappeared from the Hohenleipisch refugee shelter in April 2019, it took two months before the police started a search operation – and found her body 300 metres away from the shelter. The activists who are now demanding justice for Rita denounce the racist normality, the conditions in the camps and the specific dangers for women*.
Activists from Brandenburg also criticize these racist conditions: "We experience violence every day. It doesn't just involve hitting. The constant harassment of the authorities is also part of this. For example, that it takes a full day of travel and waiting to receive our monthly money or get a sick note."
Accommodation in isolated, prison-like camps, harassment and arbitrary actions by the authorities, racist controls and police violence – all this is a part of the German and European border regime, just as much as deportations and continuous drownings in the Mediterranean Sea. Fugitive activists are fighting against this. They are fighting not only for the right to freedom of movement, but also for the right to actually settle and to build a self-determined life for themselves. Their struggle concerns all those who want to work for a society without racism.
With this year's about:united we support amongst others the campaign "Justice for Rita!" and the group Corasol. All projects support networking and self-organisation of refugees in Brandenburg and Berlin in different ways and fight against camps, isolation and institutional racism.
