NÂR (solo) is a Swiss Lebanese multi-instrumentalist and singer based in Beirut. In a constant metamorphosis, she works with various instruments, her voice, and different objects she finds. Abrasive and hypnotic, NÂR’s lives are sonic experiments and improvisations built up from A to Z, often led by short sentences on repeat like mantras. Her music takes its roots in a very large spectrum of sounds, inspiration or genre such as Middle Eastern and North African trance, industrial, electronic and grime music. Lately playing with a set up essentially composed of clocks, carillons and other metallic objects, the musician is showing a new face with more radical directions and raw sounds.

R A N G K Ą is an ongoing sonic-sparks between Ariel William Orah and J“Moong” Santoso Pribadi (RAJA KIRIK). Both raised in Bandung and Yogyakarta Indonesia and now both based in Berlin-Germany and Vilnius-Lithuania. The duo’s sparks are driven mainly by the mutual needs of an artistic expression from their shared experience as a migrant father and struggling translocal sound artist in Europe. Their main and most recent presentation format is an experimental sound performance when they blend various sound techniques and artistic strategies from self-made instruments to diverse electronics and synthesis cosmos, from live improvisation to structured pieces, all fueled by their diasporic-dialogue on seeing and valuing things.

Sometimes it is as magic as this: the needle drops and straight away a bell dings, a drum pounds and a solemn trumpet marches in and, out of nowhere, we are deep into the ether, adrift in Jaco’s mysteries. Though Larry Rodríguez, his real name, has been an active player in Barcelona’s music scene for over a decade, this is his maiden album and was three years in the making. In what may be an unconscious reminder of the slow wandering that took place before the record finally found its release, Larry starts with the declaration of the need to heat up, as we are told: “Empiezo a sentir un calor que me mantiene aún encendido”, (“I’m starting to feel a warmth inside me that keeps me switched on”). He sounds so convincing that afterwards we cannot look back.
In less than 35 minutes, Jaco’s music offers us a glimpse of something located in the interzone between reality, dreams, and dystopia. Bureaucratic fake-news nightmares, surreal trips in Almería, sour reflections on human nature or thriller-like scenes in a video store are just some of the topics given lyrical treatment. The music is no less engrossing: usually percussion-driven, the rhythm is accompanied by a plethora of soundscapes enjoying a ride across the sonic spectrum, in and out, to the fore and back, bouncing, full of reverberations, treated sounds and textural synth lines.

Loma Doom, a true radio veteran and beacon of twisted and mesmerizing sounds. Whether you experience her musical activities or those relating to her contemporary arts practice, curiosity is a key aspect gracing Femke Dekker (real name). As Loma Doom, her signature style revolves around electronic experimentalism, both for mind and movement, seeking the outliers, one that avoids linearity, towards a space where intuition and understanding meet. Actively incorporating styles predating the computer era, she sources from her fondness for freak folk, psychedelic and hardcore punk. This openness veered Femke into a category of respected deejays in the leftfield underground, having played influential spots such as Salon Des Amateurs, Meakusma and Dekmantel, amongst others. Using radio and archives as her main media, her current focus is on various notions of listening and how listening is actually a call to action.

Formed by Lucas Brell in Berlin and Leipzig’s Marvin Unde (Qnete), Kinzua emerge from the German club undergrowth with hypnotic slants of brownfield-pastoral electronica and meter-messing motorik pulses on their first release ‘None of the Above’. Smeared over a double LP, the hour-long album pitchbends with a properly lysergic quality as it executes its functions between the folksy crackle of ‘First Chapter’ and the grungy, viscous, post-D&B rolige of ‘Breath’. Rhythmic prompts ranging from klassic kosmiche to ‘90s UK armchair music and contemporary dembow dancehall underline Kinzua’s lines of melodic thought and dream-textured electronics in swirling permutations that feel in-the-moment but ever rolling towards an uncertain horizon.

Kinzua act as spirit guides for the mind expanding new generation of trippers, with effortlessly oily grooves and keen attention to detail that suspend a sense of disbelief and mesmerise to their method. Seductive oddities such as ‘Domestic Affair’ follow to Detlef Weinrich-esque electro on ‘Elevator Moving Flor’ and ‘Heidi Peter’ echoes original Harmonia from a bleaker perspective, while supremely groggy drone in ‘Surface’ gives way to arid dancehall abstraction on ‘Sahara’, and ‘Gobi’ slopes off on a crooked outernational tip to a highlight of Laila Sakini-like scenes in ‘The Dancing Smoke’ starring vox by GiGi FM reciting from Baudelaire’s ‘Les Fleurs de Mal’.

Japanese sound artist and improviser popon began her musical journey as the singer in a punk band before swerving into more experimental territory. Now she uses an arsenal of electronic devices and small instruments to create blurry industrial noise jams that are as informed by Bristol's progressive bass landscape as they are '80s Japanese DIY sounds and children's music.

𝑬𝒕 𝑲𝒊𝒏 (Kinship)

From Istanbul and based long time in Berlin, Etkin Çekin is a multi-instrumentalist and has been producing psychedelic electronic music for more than a decade. In addition to his solo project, he is involved in various others such as God is God, Spiritczualic Enhancement Center, hue & jen_accidental. By fusing digital and analog sources, he creates repetitive melodies and rhythms that is layered with a type of trance that caters to both inclusive listening and frenzied dancing. Et Kin's objective is to establish an emotive realm that reconciles time to a cosmic alignment. His Dj sets sound like uncanny, abstract storytellings on the long run, they can go in many cross genre directions such as indietronica, shoegaze, polyrhythmic techno, idm, footwork, drumnbass, post punk, metal, trap, nu metal, avant pop, library synth, spectral jazz, neo psych, drone-ambient… He is as well the founder of the label Kinship.
