See: this is my face. And this is yours. And that is hers. And these are the faces of the others, all the others, those who love us, those who hated and despised us. See: this is my face. Between my hair and my mouth, if you'd know how to search for it, you'd find the entire story of the long adventure we've lived through. The adventure... (from L'avventura by Michelangelo Antonioni, 1960)

How is it that the color we commonly refer to as “black” is both the absence and the presence of all color at the same time? You could ask your physics teacher from back in the day and he will happily start babbling about the additive versus the subtractive synthesis of light and color. We'd rather recommend you ask Nino Pedone a.k.a. SHAPEDNOISE about his take on “black”.

SHAPEDNOISE hails from Sicily where Antonioni filmed most of his iconic black and white movie L'avventura. He's known for collaborations with Justin K Broadrick (Godflesh, Techno Animal), Mumdance and Logos, Roly Porter and others. His output on labels like Type, Opal Tapes, and his own Repitch Recordings tends to be described as bleak, dark, or even pitch-black. But SHAPEDNOISE likes to think of his impressive musical sculptures as very colorful things: in fact, they contain all kinds of light, all kinds of faces. You just have to know how to search for them, find the entire story of his long sonic adventure, and – see.

SHAPEDNOISES eye-opening sounds will be enhanced by an installation by Spanish artist KALMA. Her approach to the visual experience is intimately linked with her background of working with audio. KALMA intertwines both realms creating unrepeatable experiences and new adventures from one moment to the next.

At OHM Gallery, KALMA's latest creation will be shown alongside new works by KOOKOO's resident artists CARLY FISCHER and YUKIHIRO TAGUCHI. Before and after SHAPEDNOISE's set, your hosts MIEKO SUZUKI & ARA will present some more sonic sculptures in all kinds of colors. Come and search for them, where even the darkness is something to see...

Let's go KOOKOO!
