After a booming night at the beginning of the year, Force Field is now finally back at Paloma. This time we have invited prime selector Gramrcy to share the booth with us, and rest assure he’ll be turning the heat way up.
Gramrcy’s idiosyncratic sound is diversely mutating yet always joyful, forward-facing but with one foot in UK bass rave history and the other dancing all over the map. This unique style has brought bliss to dancefloors around the world, and led to mixes for Boiler Room, Crack Magazine, NTS and Rinse FM to name but a few. As one of the planners behind Bristol/Berlin party series Housework, Gramrcy also translates his sophisticated taste into curating. His curating skills also extends into Peach Discs, a label he recently started co-running (alongside its founder Shanti Celeste). After a string of his own productions on Glass Talk Records, Berceuse Heroique sub-label Ancient Monarchy and Singapore’s Midnight Shift (in collaboration with Hodge), we can only hope his set will deliver some unreleased Gramrcy goodness.

As ever, your faithful residents RO Zar (Fantasy Forever) and Misantrop (Glass Knot, Foul-Up) will complete the lineup with unending belters from start till end.

GRAMRCY

Gramrcy is a British-born DJ and producer currently residing in Berlin. His productions draw elements from the UK’s rich rave history while pushing a resolutely forward-facing sound. EPs on cult UK labels Ancient Monarchy and FTD established a restless, anything-goes approach to music-making, while a collaboration with good friend Hodge on Singapore-based label Midnight Shift displayed a tougher and more upfront side. This varied approach extends through to his DJ sets – a fluid and stylistically diverse selection that skilfully weaves between genres and eras while maintaining at its heart a fun and carefree approach to dance music. Well-received mixes for Crack Magazine, Boiler Room, Uncanny Valley and Ceramics (which Thump named their No.1 mix of 2015), as well as numerous guest slots on NTS and Rinse FM have cemented his reputation as a thrilling and diverse DJ, as comfortable with well-considered warm-ups as he is playing peak time sets.

2019 saw him become joint label-owner of Peach Discs – the label started in 2016 by long-time friend Shanti Celeste, setting the stage for exciting developments in the label’s future. As well as running the longstanding Housework parties in Bristol and Berlin alongside Shanti, Golesworthy and Daisy Moon, he’s played a number of well-respected clubs, venues and festivals throughout Europe and the world. With his latest EP on GlassTalk Records getting plays from a wide range of the scenes most exciting DJs and plenty of new music in the pipeline, his activities in the studio and behind the decks continue to mark out Gramrcy as a producer and DJ to keep an eye on.

FORCE FIELD

Force Field is an event venture gathering the sonic perspectives of selectors RO Zar and Misantrop.
Anything goes—it's a vibrant melting pot of divergent sounds and disparate tempos, orbiting around bass diasporas, off-kilter riddims, the hardcore continuum, a spectrum of euphoria, modern angularity, oddball gems, and further filth
